A BIGGER SPLASH
PAD LONDON 2025On the occasion of Frieze Week and PAD London 2025, The Invisible Collection presents A Bigger Splash, an exhibition of exclusive pieces by Dorothée Delaye.
Marking the French designer’s first solo show in the United Kingdom, the exhibition reveals her Mediterranean inspirations and signature solar elegance, subtly infused with a British twist.
The title A Bigger Splash echoes a shared visual culture among aesthetes worldwide, referencing both the iconic painting by David Hockney, the cult documentary portraying the artist’s emotional separation, and A Bigger Splash—a refined remake of the psychological thriller La Piscine, this time set on the island of Pantelleria.
From the hyper-real reflections of a Californian pool to the volcanic landscapes of a Mediterranean island, Dorothée Delaye explores the subtle tensions between different worlds, bringing them together through a softened palette of elegant, sunlit tones.
Like the shifting landscapes of Pantelleria, the scenography moves between apparent calm and underlying intensity. Each piece becomes a narrative object—an interpretation of contrast, sophistication and solar elegance.
“It is important for each object to have a presence, a stance—almost an attitude. It is never purely functional; it is always about storytelling”
The collection draws inspiration from the raw beauty of Pantelleria, an island where nature and minimalism converge.
From the deep blue of the sea to the green of caper bushes, from wind-sheltered lemon trees to lava stone and ceramics, every detail evokes the warmth and spirit of a Mediterranean summer.
Within this setting, Dorothée Delaye introduces a refined touch of British eccentricity, blending mohair, paisley, carved wood and ceramics.
Her creations are named after Mediterranean winds—Libeccio, Zephyr, Bise and Levant—each embodying a breath of renewal and a sense of effortless elegance.
