Maison Saint-Louis Hotel Becomes Hotel Amista

A landmark address in the vibrant Noailles district of Marseille, Maison Saint-Louis Hotel opens a new chapter in its history and becomes Hotel Amista.

This emblematic property, whose architecture dates back to the late 18th century, is reimagined as a Provençal house while preserving its unique soul.

The hotel also pays tribute to indiennes—printed cotton fabrics imported from the East that swept across Europe from the 17th century onward, shaping fashion, trade and craftsmanship. Marseille was their gateway before becoming a major centre for their production and distribution.

At the crossroads of influences and echoing the aristocratic past of Noailles, Hotel Amista restores the full prestige of this historic residence.

An authentic and vibrant place to live

Balancing the celebration of architectural and cultural heritage with a strong Mediterranean anchoring, Hotel Amista—amista meaning “friendship” in Provençal—embodies a warm and sunlit art of living, where every detail tells a story.

Conceived as a large Marseille house of friends and travel, the property blends elegance and simplicity, heritage and creativity, offering a fully immersive experience in Mediterranean effervescence.

This is particularly expressed through the use of Provençal textiles—true heirs to indiennes—which perpetuate their aesthetic language and influence within European heritage.

Every corner tells a story, every object evokes a journey, creating an eclectic, refined and vibrant universe for guests.

Dorothée Delaye plays with sunlit colours drawn from nature—pink, sage green, yellow—alongside travel objects and reinterpreted antique furniture.

Through a mix of vintage finds, artisanal influences and tones inspired by Marseille’s landscapes, the hotel celebrates the richness of the Phocean city.

Surrounded by talented local artisans and creators, Dorothée Delaye shapes a strong and lively identity where tradition and modernity intertwine with harmony and intention.

“With Amista, I wanted to restore this place to its former radiance while celebrating Marseille and its port heritage.
Here, generosity and conviviality come first, in a home inhabited by passionate people and filled with objects gathered from many horizons.
Every detail pays tribute to local craftsmanship and authentic materials, creating a sincere and timeless atmosphere.
We share, we laugh, we dream… and we live Marseille to the fullest. Welcome to Amista!”
